So many independent artistes work hard to get a record label, but when they get a deal they become lazy.
When they are independent
*They release song almost every month.
*They jump on any competition or free beat.
But when they finally get signed, They become lazy and begin to think they have arrived. probably because they might have gotten a furnished apartment, bling bling, New Clothes and every beautiful girl is now tripping for them.
Less you forget, Record Labels are not Charity Organizations, rather business ventures with the sole aim of making profit, every money they spent even to the weed you smoked in the studio is a loan and it’s expected that you payback with interest.
Do you know contracts of a signed artiste demands
*A minimum number of song/album to be recorded within the lifetime of the contract.
And each recorded song will be checkmated for quality, lyrical content, delivery and ability to queue into trends.
So it takes a lot of hard work on the part of the artiste to meet with these demands.
Failure to meet these demands is already an indictment on the part of the artiste.
Recent dispute between some popular labels and their former signees should make you understand that most record deals have clauses that allow the label recover financial input with intrest.
In a cases where is not so, labels always result to legal actions against the artiste in a bid to get back atleast thier principal investment.
I am praying for you to get signed by label who will be ready to promote you. Nevertheless, I still advice you to put in more work when you are signed, don’t get carried away.
See You All at The Top.
